In the fictional universe of the the Battle Nexus is a "nexus" of dimensions connecting various worlds, including Earth and the Triceraton homeworld. It is the site of the Battle Nexus Tournament, a competition held every three years in which great fighters from numerous galaxies battle for the title of the multiverse's greatest warrior.

The Nexus is governed by a mystical figure known only as the Daimyo, who presides over the matches of the tournament and maintains the peace in his realm using his War Staff of Ultimate Power. Though the Daimyo has final say over who can compete in the tournament (and, more generally, on any rulings), the individual matches are refereed by his servant, the ethereal being called Gyoji.

The Battle Nexus seems to have an unusual magic of its own; Traximus, a member of the nitrogen and sulphur-breathing Triceraton race, is shown breathing quite as easily as residents of Earth (called "Third Earth" by the Gyoji), while neither use any evident breathing apparatus.

In the multi-parter finale of the second season of the series, the Ninja Turtles entered the Battle Nexus Tournament having followed their master Splinter through an interdimensional gateway. Once there, they learned that Splinter was in fact the previous champion of the competition, as had his own master Hamato Yoshi been before him.

While competing, the Turtles had to unfoil a plot conceived by the Ultimate Ninja - the son of the Nexus' Daimyo - and Splinter's old rival, the evil dragon named Drako. The two had attempted to steal the Daimyo's War Staff and using it to rule the galaxies. Eventually, however, they were defeated. Leonardo and Usagi Yojimbo later return to the Battle Nexus after the fused "Ultimate Drako" scatters the Turtles across time and space. There, they must fight against the two villains once again, but thanks to the Time Sceptre of Lord Simultaneous, they prevailed.

Though the final round was interrupted (And Leonardo and Usagi Yojimbo dropped out after Leonardo was hit by a poisoned dart during their fight), official victory status was awarded to Michelangelo (in a later episode the final match against Kluh was replayed and he won again, also winning a medal for his character in battle). As tournament champion, Michelangelo had a statue of himself erected in the Hall of Champions, alongside his master Splinter, and Hamato Yoshi, and the Ninja Tribunal.

The Battle Nexus was hinted at existing in the comic book version of the turtles in issue 24 of Volume 4. In issues 25 and 26 Leo travels to it. He has yet to learn what the place is except that Splinter had fought there.

Dr. Chaplin is a fictional character of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, appearing in the 2003 animated series. Introduced in the series' third season, the young, enthusiastic engineer is made the head of the Foot Clan's Science Division following the numerous failures and subsequent demotion of his predecessor and idol Baxter Stockman, much to Stockman's chagrin. Much of Chaplin's work is based on that of Stockman.

Chaplin first appeared when the Shredder had plans to retrieve a Triceraton power generator from a crashed ship. Hoping to impress the Shredder, Chaplin demonstrated his special Amazonian mechs, giant fighting robots that were styled after Karai, Shredder's adoptive daughter and a possible crush of Chaplin's. The mechs proved unable to defeat the Turtles, but Shredder was impressed with Chaplin's work. Much to Stockman's dismay, he found himself shoved aside, rather like Hun following the debut of Karai.

Chaplin was later dispatched by the Shredder to recover a Triceraton anti-gravity generator from Beijing. During the mission, he provided Baxter Stockman's brain with a new exo-suit. He also introduced an improved version of Stockman's Mouser robots. They proved unable to beat the Turtles, and Chaplin's inexperience with alien technology nearly led to the destruction of the city.

Chaplin was also the captain of Shredder's space vessel as it departed Earth's atmosphere. He expressed his enthusiasm for the job, not even bothered by Shredder's true Utrom identity. He continued to place faith in Dr. Stockman, who designed the ship's defenses. Unfortunately, Stockman had betrayed them and sided with Agent Bishop, shutting down the defenses. Like Karai, he was captured by the Utroms and sent back to Earth.

Dr. Chaplin resurfaces in the "Lost Season", again the head scientist of the Foot under Karai. He first appeared in an attempt to help Karai fight off the resurrected Tengu Shredder, who had come to destroy her. His subsequent appearances saw him helping the Turtles, Bishop, Karai, and their other allies in their campaign to defeat the Tengu. Chaplin was also responsible for designing special Mystic Tech weaponry, which are mainly made up of blasters, with a sword version made for Karai's use. These magic-powered weapons were very effective against the soldiers of Tengu Shredder's army, but not as effective against Tengu Shredder himself.

Upon The Shredder's defeat at the hands of the Turtles, Chaplin is last seen talking with Karai, who admits she wishes to only think about the immediate future and walks from the battlefield holding Chaplin's hand, returning, for the first time, his affections for her.

Note that despite multiple betrayals on Stockman's part, Chaplin has never lost his hero worship for him, even when they were forced to team up against Tengu Shredder's forces.

Dr. Chaplin is voiced by Sam Regal. He has appeared in five aired episodes:
#New Blood
#Mission of Gravity
#Hun on the Run
#Exodus Part 1
#Exodus Part 2

He also appears in the following episodes, which remain unaired in America:
#New World Order Part 1
#New World Order Part 2
#Past Present
#Enter The Dragons Part 1
#Enter The Dragons Part 2
