Errol Peru, 4th May 1951
----
Errol Peru, the most well known and Successful
Promoter in Trinidad and Tobago is a much sought out manager for many Calypsonians such as Winston Peters, Lord Relator also known as Willard Harris, Cricket poetry, Michael Osuna (Sugar Aloes),
Cro Cro (Weston Rawlins) and many others. He worked with The Grandmaster The Lord Kitchener (calypsonian) Aldwyn Roberts for over twelve years).
Early Aspects
----
Errol Peru was born In St. James, Trinidad in 1951. He is the last of eight siblings of Ackbour and Ameena Peru nee Williams
It is said Peru was born with an everlasting melody in his head. He would recite tune after tune with accompanying melodies and lyrics of every vogue calypso at the time. With an ever-loving passion for music, he would dictate verses and choruses too long and
un-imaginable for any one his age to recall.
With admirations for such calypsonians as , Lord Beginner, The Lord Kitchener,
The Mighty Sparrow Tiger, Growler and Atilla The Hun just to name a few, he followed their careers and every move they made within the musical arena.
He attended St. James Primary Boys School and then moved onto The John Donaldson Technical Institute where he pursued Commercial Artistry.
He was offered a job at the top advertising agency in the world, McCann Erickson.
It was there that Peru capitalized on the use of Advertising and Show-business. He made numerous connections within the Entertainment Industry by booking musical and cultural greats for adverting campaigns and radio spots. It was through these ventures he helped build a name for himself within the musical and production fraternity. He has done campaigns with The Growling Tiger and Kitchener just to name a few.
Mid Career
----
His involvement in calypso started in 1960, when he met the late Lord Brinner who he conversed with about calypso and its origin. During the following years he started to follow other calypsonians such as Lord Kitchener, Mighty Sparrow, Lord Shorty ,
Lord Melody , The Mighty Chalkdust , Relator, Black Stalin , Valentino and Gypsy. It was in 1970 when he met Relator, Black Stalin and Valentino, he decided to start an association where he and a bunch of talented calypsonians began
The People’s Calypso Court , a calypso workshop set up to assist young calypsonians in the art of writing and composing. They also produced many successful calypso concerts.
In 1979, he worked with Black Stalin helping him secure the Calypso Monarch Title of that year . With the knowledge he gained over the years working with these artistes he ventured into the managerial aspect of the business, such as promoting shows. In 1980 he became Lord Relator’s manager and saw him through successfully into the finals of the monarch competition, where he won the Monarch. During the following years Peru, produced concerts such as Nostalgia with Relator which sold out audiences at the Holiday Inn and the Spectacular Forum. He then went on to become Gypsy’s manager, assisting him in copping Calypso King of the World Title in Barbados and later the Calypso Monarch Title in Trinidad, plus many Extempo monarchs. Errol also produced Gypsy in his Royal Performance Concert which sold out every night at the Spectacular Forum. It must be noted also that he contributed significantly to the success of Baron’s Concert being one of the promoters at the same venue.
It was when he became Lord’s Kitchener’s manager in 1993, that this experience gave him a wealth of familiarity in the field of calypso. Kitchener, who created highly-popular and sweet melodies, is honored with a statue in Port of Spain. He is buried in the Santa Rosa Cemetery in Arima. A bust of the beloved entertainer is also on display on Hollis Avenue, Arima, not far from the Arima Stadium. The Lord Kitchener's Manager and Loyal friend to the Roberts Family, Errol Peru was the individual who initiated the Honoring of The Lord Kitchener when he arranged and executed The Unveiling of The Grand Statue of Kitchener in Port of Spain and Later in Arima.
Peru formed a committee in 1994 which was responsible for the construction of the statue of the Grand Master Lord Kitchener.
He fondly recollected that "While I was Kitchener's manager I wanted to give something to him before he died. We have a tendency of not honouring and showing respect to our cultural icons who have contributed to the development of this country. Only when they die we pay tribute to them. It was the first time that a statue was ever erected for a calypsonian in this country." Peru's tribute to the King of Calypso is apposite, considering the amount of violence in the world today. "At a time when our country is filled with so much that is ugly, it is nice to know that we have Lord Kitchener to look up to as a living legend of creativity, excellence and humility." Trinidad honoured its man of street music in 1994 by putting his face on a postage stamp.
Main Involvement in The Arts
----
Errol Peru, who managed Kitchener for over 12 years noted that Kitchener had won ten Road Marches and his songs have won 18 Panoramas, that to date have been unparalleled. He also pointed out that Kitchener never released a song that did not have a sense of completion to it. His songs were always smooth and without blemish. Errol also said that he calls for more respect to be given to the nation's calypsonians, composers and others involved in art and culture.
Errol stated on The Dateline Television Show with Allyson Hennessy that unlike any other calypsonian, Kitch would compose songs to forget them - because in order to come up with fresh material he needed to purge the old ones out of his system. Sometimes, said Errol, if he had recorded a song and was going to have to sing it somewhere, he would have to get the material back and play it for Kitchener so he could re-learn the words
In 1998, upon Ms. Nicole Nathaniel’s (Nickie Crosby)request, he agreed to manage her career in the entertainment business securing her best interest at all times. This will include her live performances and as well as radio, TV and newspaper contracts for various products. With such a venture he decided to initiate his own calypso tent. However, the angle of the tent was pursued as a Humorous Calypso tent where comedy and performance skits was the focus. He enlisted such comedy greats as Sprangalang, John Agitation, Learie Joseph, Tommy Joseph, Damian Melville, and Beulah just to name a few. With sold out crowds every night during the carnival season, Yangatang was heavily patronized and deemed to be very successful and the top Tent for the carnival season. Shortly after litigation rights arose between Peru and, Nickie Crosby and Errol Fabien when ownerships issues of the tent was brought forth. A court battle ensued and the name Yangatang was restored back to Peru.
Peru also worked with the Prime Minister’s Secretary in contracting artistes when required for government’s cultural shows, such as visiting Heads of State including his Royal Highness, Prince Phillip on his recent visit to Trinidad. In addition to this he also helped organize a charity dinner for under privileged Children for His Royal Highness, Prince Andrew on his private visit to Barbados in January 2000.
In addition to honoring the Great Lord Kitchener, Peru had bestowed The Mighty Sparrow with the same veneration when in July 2001 he unveiled a full size statue of the Mighty Sparrow on The St. Ann’s Round about in Trinidad. Sculpted by Indian Based Artist Madan Gopaul, the statue created a lot of controversy about the resemblance to the King of calypso as well as the location chose for the semblance. Peru staed that
“ There would always be critics who would voice there opinion on the Statue but you must let them be, the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

Currently an Adult Education Centre owned by Newport City Council running classes for adults through the day and into the evening, however this house was once a country manor house on the outskirts of the city of Newport, South Wales. The house still features its original staircase as well as fireplaces in every room.
The gardens are a wonderful feature of the house, leading stright into the Grove Park woods, these also include some disused outdoor tennis courts from when the house was a domestic home.
Brynglas House is on Brynglas Road in Newport, South Wales in the parish of Brynglas and is part of the Shaftesbury Ward (Shaftesbury, Newport)

The Northwind Highlanders are an esteemed mercenary group in the BattleTech universe, with a rich history traced back to their Scottish origins.
History
While serving with House Liao's Capellan Confederation, their homeworld of Northwind was captured by House Davion's Federated Suns during the Second Succession War. Liao used stories of Davion atrocities to cement their loyalty. During the Fourth Succession War, they reached a negotiated deal with Davion to return to Northwind in December 3028. They arrived just as the planet was about to fall to the Draconis Combine. Under Davion, their four regiments were rebuilt to full strength.
They had the First Kearny battle standard presented to them by Omi Kurita before launching an attack on Clan Smoke Jaguar in 3058.
During the Second Star League, Members of the Northwind Highlanders (and residents on Northwind itself) remembering their heritage of being descended from the Blackwatch of the First Star League joined the newly recreated Blackwatch
Later, in the MechWarrior: Dark Age universe, the Northwind Highlanders, led by Countess Tara Campbell, are a part of the Republic of the Sphere and fight to protect it from internal and external foes. The Highlanders are made of three groups. The green unit is the Republican Guards, the veteran unit is the Northwind Fusiliers, and the elite unit is the First Kearny.
Mechwarior:Dark Age Update
The Introduction of the Highlanders describes them as the main military force presiding in Prefecture III, even though SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) of the Republic Armed Forces. Showcasing that factionlism has even effected the forces of the Republic of the Sphere.
Leader: Prefect Tara Campbell
Quote: “In the name of Devlin Stone, we will survive.”
Overview: Legate of Northwind before the current troubles began, Countess Campbell is horrified by how quickly the common people of Prefecture III have forgotten all the Republic of the Sphere did for their prosperity and protection. More, they seem to have forgotten Devlin Stone and the high ideals he espoused. Her disgust is compounded tenfold toward the other leaders in the Prefecture, who should be setting an example, not letting their avarice lead them astray.
Her dismay is centered on ex-Prefect Katana Tormark, whom Tara served under in the past and respected for years. When Tormark was offered a Knighthood but refused, Campbell was torn between hero worship and horror. Though she has no real ambition for personal power, she’s convinced that only she can keep the Prefecture from sliding into anarchy. She has thus stepped up to fill Katana’s shoes in the Republic post Katana abandoned when she founded the Dragon’s Fury. Countess Campbell has now called upon all who remain loyal to the memory of Devlin Stone and the Republic to stand against the falling darkness.
Using the Republic Army forces in the immediate Prefectures as her base, Campbell began expanding her troops via volunteers and militia forces. She is clearly biding her time until larger elements of the Republic’s army can be mobilized and assist her in holding together the Great Experiment. Given our own difficulties in doing the same within House Kurita, our analysts do not anticipate that Countess Campbell will receive much help any time soon.
ELITE UNIT: First Kearny
MOTTO: “Our Legacy Is Our Sword.”
The First Kearny Highlanders are the heirs of a military tradition that stretches back more than fifteen centuries — a history unmatched by any other Inner Sphere regiment currently in service. From the first Scottish regiments raised in the seventeenth century, through Humanity’s expansion to the stars in the twenty-second century, through their reincarnation as the Kearny Highlanders on Northwind in the twenty-fourth century, through the centuries of Succession Wars and through today, no unit is more respected for its battlefield prowess or tradition of excellence.
At the time of the Word of Blake Jihad, the Highlanders fielded five full regiments. Only three partial regiments survived that crucible, and when swords turned to plowshares during the demilitarization and formation of the Republic, all but the First Kearny were decommissioned.
Though peace and prosperity have ruled for two generations, the men and women of the First Kearny have maintained their expertise through grueling training and a devotion to their legacy. More important, they have sworn an oath that never again will they allow a catastrophe like the Jihad to occur. If ever the Word of Blake rears its head again, they have vowed to see to its immediate destruction.
VETERAN UNIT: Northwind Fusiliers
MOTTO: “A New Tradition”
The Northwind Fusiliers were commissioned soon after the communications grid was lost and rumors of war began to circulate. Although they were originally intended only as a home guard for Northwind, Tara Campbell has deployed them on numerous worlds in her effort to hold the Republic together.
Like the Republican Guards, the Northwind Fusiliers are a relatively new unit. Unlike the Guards, however, not only is the entire officers’ corps taken from the First Kearny, but most of its members are descended from the decommissioned Second Kearny and Northwind Hussars regiments as well. As a result, though the men and women of the Fusiliers had not actively engaged in combat or formal training before the blackout, most of them had kept up the military traditions of their forefathers as weekend warriors. Well-versed in the theories of warfare, they transformed the Fusiliers from a wet-behind-the-ears green unit into a solid line regiment much more quickly than Campbell had believed possible.
GREEN UNIT: Republican Guards
MOTTO: “For the Republic”
The Republican Guards are in essence a citizen’s militia. When Tara Campbell assumed the post of Prefect, she quickly realized that many of the forces formerly at the Prefect’s disposal had sided with various leaders, and fighting had already broken out in the Prefecture.
Realizing she had no choice, she put out a call to every able-bodied man and woman who was willing to fight for the ideals of Devlin Stone and the Republic, which had given them so much peace and prosperity over the past several decades. She received a torrent of responses, with many people simply booking passage on the next DropShip to Northwind, landing on her doorstep with nothing but the clothes on their backs and an old rifle that had been gathering dust in their grandparents’ house for years.
This dedication has served them well, but regardless of their passion for the cause of the Republic, they are a militia formed from people who recently were tending children and desk jobs.
