W2Pi, also known as W2Pi entertainment is a viral video company created by comedian Peter Whatanitch featuring the Internet phenomenon SyF the Giver an active player of Blizzard Entertainment's MMORPG World of Warcraft. Their videos have become popular thanks to a video of SyF playing World of Warcraft for 24 hours straight that circulated around the Internet. The phenomenon has since spread well beyond the boundaries of the gaming community into other online and mainstream media such as Dr. Phil, Q101, FOX News and South Park.
Viral Videos
W2Pi releases their videos on YouTube as well as many other video sharing websites. The subject matter spans from many different genres but the core of their videos are about video games, college life, and standup/script comedy.
The most of the videos revolve around the two founders, Peter Whatanitch, and Robert Whatanitch aka (SyF the Giver). The most successful videos are the ones where Peter chronicles SyF's video game addiction.
Expansion as an internet meme
After releasing the video, DUDE PLAYS WORLD OF WARCRAFT 24 HOURS STRAIGHT FOR EXPANSION, on several file and video sharing websites, it instantly became an internet phenomenon.
W2Pi entertainment created W2Pi.com as a formal communication between users and the W2Pi crew.
W2Pi also created a fan hotline where users can call in and leave a message for the W2Pi crew and have there messages posted on www.whatanitch.com.
Outside the Internet
W2Pi has been featured in several non-Internet related media:
* FOX NEWS has featured W2Pi's parody of "Hey There Delilah" by the .
* Q101 has interviewed several members of the W2Pi crew on their morning radio show, The Morning Fix.
* has used W2Pi footage for several shows about video games including "Shocking Teen Trends".
* The second half of season 11 of South Park features an episode that directly mimics one of W2Pi's viral videos, entitled "Dramatic Chipmunk + Starcraft 2 + Syf the Giver = WHAT?!?!?!"
Other Projects
Through their website W2Pi they have announced several projects they are working on including 3 feature length movies, The Axon Theory, The 4th Horseman, and Cache.
They have also launched their own video game company, W2Pi STUDIO a virtual studio where programmers, artists and designers from all over the world collaborate on a feature console video game. The project consists of members who are accepted from an online resume submission. These members whom join are allowed to work when ever they want, and where ever they want. The more effort the user puts into making the game, the more percentage of the total game sales they receive.
Peter Whatanitch also announced WiFiArmy , a game meant to run on OHA's Android. In the game, players would be alerted of enemies in their vicinity and would have to shoot them, probably using their phone's camera (although full details have not yet been released.)
