Mahek Modha, born in Zambia to Indian parents in 1944, was a local hero. He was a notable politician and an outstanding sportsman. He was born on November 29 in a land of poverty in the town of Dulu, but thanks to the sheer effort of his parents was given an education. At a very young age he showed signs of promise as a great speaker, most notably speaking against some rules imposed by the headmaster at a tender age of just five. At ten he was seen as a young hero, speaking out against some of the local laws that were attempting to suppress Zambian freedom. At just 15 he joined a local political party, and overturned many laws being passed by authorities. He campaigned for Zambian independence, and along with help from many others, helped Zambia achieve its goal on 0ctober 24, 1964. Also, his talents as a budding footballer were emerging. He played for his local team. He was notably remembered for a forty-yard goal, and to this day, to score a long range goal is called a Modha.
Even though he did not live without controversy. At age 19 it seemed his world was to come to an end as it was alleged by local media that he was receiving bungs from the notorious "S5G" bandits; and he was also accused of having affairs with various local beauties. He currently lives in London with his wife and three sons, all of whom are or were at Cambridge University.
