Sebastian Alastair St. Cyr (pronounced Sanchere) Viscount Devlin was a fictional detective character created by historian-writer C. S. Harris. In the books, he is the third and only surviving son of Alastair St. Cyr, the Fifth Earl of Hendon, who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Tory Government of Spencer Perceval.
An heir to an earldom, disillusioned Army officer, and a knight errant, he became entangled in several affairs involving high-standing families of the Regency England.
A master of disguises, Sebastian moves readily from the ballrooms of Mayfair to the squalid docks of the Thames and meets every character from King George III to lowliest of beggars.

The Books
What Angels Fear (2005)
When a beautiful young Rachel York is found raped and savagely murdered near the Westminster Abbey, a damning testimony points to Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin. When he was attacked, Sebastian run for his life and thus became a detective. He uses his experiences as an agent during the Napoleonic Wars to embark on a desperate quest to catch a brutal killer.
When Gods Die (2006)
June, 1811. At the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, the beautiful young wife of an aging Marquis is found dead in the arms of the Prince Regent. From her back protrudes a jeweled dagger that once belonged to Bonnie Prince Charlie. Around her neck lies an ancient bluestone and silver necklace said to have been worn by the Druid priestesses of Wales. Viscount Devlin is lured into this by his own mother's complexity in the affair. With the aid of his lover, a celebrated actress with secrets of her own, and his new servant, Tom, Sebastian follows a twisted trail.
Why Mermaids Sing (2007)
September, 1811. The sons of Regency England's most powerful families are butchered one by one. Strange objects are found in their mouths; their bodies are in public places. When the grisly remains of the eldest son of Alfred, Lord Stanton, are discovered in Old Palace Yard beside the House of Lords, local magistrate Sir Henry Lovejoy turns to Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, for help. From tangled yarns, Devlin must find the connections behind these ritualized killings. The key maybe in the enigmatic stanzas of a haunting poem.
