EVS Broadcast Equipment (EVS) was founded in 1994 by Pierre L'Hoest and Michel Consoun in Liège, Belgium. The company's first product was the Live Slow motion (LSM) system for editing sports video. Based on server technology, the LSM allows for ingest of video without videotape, which makes it possible to edit the video immediately.

EVS has developed various software applications to amend the Live Slow Motion system, and manufactures servers in-house. The LSM, commonly referred to as "the Elvis" because of the name of the company EVS appearing on the box itself, is known primarily for its use in Mobile TV trucks for sports production.

The LSM and other EVS products are often ridiculed by broadcasting industry professionals for being costly. For instance, in a recent list of the "Top 10 Reasons Being A Truck Guy (or Gal) Is Tougher Than It Looks", Sports Video Group, which reports on developments in the sports broadcasting industry, listed the #2 reason as "The cost of an Ivy league education is less than an EVS".

While the headquarters of the company remains in Liège, Belgium, the company has offices in the USA, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, the UAE, Hong Kong, and Beijing. It is, in fact, one of the largest companies in Belgium .

Products include the production tool Director. The Hardware and Software combination allows full production management of server content, as well as control of ingest an playout on the XT production server platform. The software can also be used to log live incoming feeds, or post-log recorded material. It has been utilized on sporting events such as the World Cup and the Olympic Games.

Evaluation
What makes this project original is that it contains centuries-old history of cigarettes and thus it is an inseparable part of human history. CigarettesPedia.com sets the goal of creating a full encyclopedia of cigarettes. This site is of great interest to collectors as they can contribute images and later exchange odd cigarette packs among each other. At the same time on CigarettesPedia.com everyone can look for any information or contribute it free of charge.

Critics
Nowadays there exist a great number of special projects dedicated to the exploration of the appearance of tobacco, the impacts of tobacco on the global industry, animals, plants, health etc.
In no way doesn’t CigarettesPedia touch upon these subjects. CigarettesPedia does not make any kind of propaganda operation; the CigarettesPedia is an educational, useful and cognitive resource.
