players are different in their own way. All players have a particular 'style' in which they play in that is an asset to their team in some way. Some playing styles can only be used in some positions. eg: a target man can only be a forward because a player who plays with that style is not effective anywhere else. Here are the main styles.

*Lionel Messi of Barcelona
*Robinho of Real Madrid
*Franck Ribery of Bayern Munich
Box to Box midfielders are players who have good stamina and can work all match long from 'Box to Box'. These players usually have good all-round ability in both attack and defence. Some well known Box to Box midfielders are:
*Frank Lampard of Chelsea

*Peter Crouch of Liverpool
*Mark Viduka of Newcastle United
A Playmaker is usually a midfielder who is the brains of the team. In some teams there is more than one. *Deco of Barcelona
*Andrea Pirlo of Milan
*Mikel Arteta of Everton

Sweepers should be comfortable on the ball and adept at all other defensive skills. Some well known sweepers are:
*Rafael Marquez of Barcelona
*Vincent Kompany of Hamburg
Counter Attackers are forwards that 'counter attack' when their team is on the back foot. Counter attackers can quickly turn a game through their pace, ball control and finishing. Some well known counter attackers are:

Margaret Tyndal Winthrop (February 23, 1880 - July 7, 1970) was the maternal grandmother of U.S. Senator John Kerry, the 2004 presidential candidate. (Winthrop's daughter, Rosemary Isabel Forbes, was Kerry's mother.)
Winthrop came from a family with deep roots in New England history. She was born in Massachusetts and raised in Boston. Her grandfather was Robert Charles Winthrop, the conservative Whig Speaker of the House and a U.S. Senator. Her ancestors include James Bowdoin, former governor of Maine, John Winthrop, the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and Thomas Dudley, another of the founding members and governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Like most people with considerable colonial New England ancestry, she is related to many notable figures in American history, such as
Franklin D. Roosevelt (Kerry's 4th cousin twice removed), Jane Addams, Calvin Coolidge (Kerry's 8th cousin once removed), and ironically, George H. W. Bush (Kerry's 9th cousin once removed), and George W. Bush (Kerry's 9th cousin, twice removed). She is also is connected to the medieval royalty of Europe through her Dudley ancestors.
Winthrop died at St. Briac Sur Mer, Ille-et-Vilaine, France.

The Activist Council of the Columbia University College Democrats is the activism-oriented arm of the Columbia University College Democrats. Formed in 2005 by President Seth Flaxman, the group is a constitutionally unique part of the organization tasked with carrying out an annual campaign trip and an annual lobby trip, as well as with conducting major public events on campus and to facilitate interaction with other progressive campus organizations.
Lead activists
Although conducted primarily as a congregation of equals, the Activist Council is led by four lead activists. Currently, they are: Sarah Leonard, Cassie Spodak, Mara Richard, and Evan Thomas.
Campaign Trips
The annual campaign trip is conducted over Election Day break each November. The trip lasts five days, encompassing the weekend and two-day holiday before Election Day.
*2004--Lorain County, Ohio. The first campaign trip was organized by Elizabeth Brown and Seth Flaxman. The group was hosted by Sherrod Brown and campaigned for John Kerry and successfully increased Democratic turnout in the county despite the statewide loss.
*2005--Fredericksburg, Virginia. The group aided successful gubernatorial race against Jerry W. Kilgore.
*2006--Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In Cleveland, the group worked for Sherrod Brown in his successful senatorial campaign against incumbent Mike DeWine and also helped other local candidates in a massive Democratic victory that saw Republicans lose an incumbent governor and all but one statewide office.
Lobby Trips
The lobby trip is conducted in the spring and is viewed as a lesser corollary to the fall campaign trip. There is no set period of time for the lobby trip, though the first two have been much shorter than the campaign trips.
*2005--Student financial aid. The first organized lobby trip was conducted in conjunction with the Columbia Office of Governmental Affairs. Students lobbied for increased financial aid from Congress.
*2006--Student financial aid. The second lobby trip was also conducted with the OGA with the same goal as the first.
