Putting Method: In Trigonometry, putting method is very famous Maths Short Cut. The process of this method is to search for suitable angles of triangle.
Examples:
1) To know if the given triangle is equilateral triangle or right angled traingle or... ,guess the angles those satisfy the given condition (sum of three angles in a triangle is 360°).
If cotA+cotB+cotC=3/2, what kind of triangle is ΔABC?
Solution: Put ABCC60°. This satisfies the given equation. Hence ΔABC is equilateral triangle.
2)If n is even, sinx+sin(л+x)+sin(2л+x)+.........+sin(nл+x)=?
Solution: Since n is even, put n=2. Then it is sinx+sin(л+x). Clearly it is 0.
3)If tanθ=2x(x+1)/2x+1,then sinθ=?
Solution: Put x1.tanθ2.1(1+1)/(2.1+1)4/3. clerly sinθ4/5.
4)If sinθ+cosecθ=2, then sin θ+cosec θ=?
Solution: Put θ=л/2. Then sin θ+cosec θ=1 +1 =1+1=2.
