Bob Cuba are a Scottish indie pop band with 3 members known as the "Bobs" (Sbob, Cbob and Jbob). They have a somewhat cult status in the underground music scene in Canada, Netherlands, Belgium and Japan following their music forming the soundtrack to the Nickelodeon cartoon "Girlstuff Boystuff" in 2003 . This has led to obvious comparisons with fellow Scottish group Bis, who also appeared in cartoons to promote their music, although their style is more bombastic.
Members
The band consists of brothers Colin and Stuart Stevenson from Ayr and John Watt from Glasgow, Scotland. Approx age of members is 26-30 years old.
Releases
The band have released 3 records to date on the label Fusion Records, which is the band's own label. Bounce EP was released in May 2003, Million Eyes single in May 2004 and their debut album "Bob Cuba" will be released in June 2007. Given their limited distribution capacity by having their own record label, they have not yet broken the British charts.
Live
Their live shows have become notorious for being raucous and energetic events, often with their fans invading the stage with spacehoppers (which has become the band's trademark). This has led to sell-out shows across the UK, although the band has not yet had chart success, chosing to release their material on the internet only.
Recent News
Having largely cult status in the underground indie scene to date, they are aiming for a wider appeal with the imminent release of their debut album "Bob Cuba" in June 2007. This has seen the band take on a more mainstream sound. Radio 1 have tipped them as "the next Primal Scream".

On December 1st 2007 the band signed with New York City indie label Transatlantic Records and plans for the album began to take place.
The significance of the band is its nearly instantaneous comparison to old greats such as The Cranberries and Garbage.
History
Near To Far EP
After recording with Jeff Smith at 2100 Studios the band set out to tour in support of their debut, Near To Far. The album was to be a mix of rerecorded songs from the early days of the band. The Record sold out of print in early 2007 and can now only be found online at itunes. The record gave the band the opportunity to play with, supporting bands like Relient K, Jonezetta, and Jeffree Starr.
The Empty Room EP
The band's second album, The Empty Room, is to be released on March 3rd 2008. The album, although considerably poppier, contains deeper songs than those on Near To Far, with a more polished sound.
The album was produced by Stephen Christian of the band Anberlin and Gilbert Ott III. Christian is said to have crafted and polished the songs while Ott helped with more technical aspects to bring a edgier and bigger sound to the equation.
The leak of several of the tracks to the internet prompted their position at #1 on the purevolume.com charts for a short time as well as growing industry praise from such sites as "Kings of A&R".
Touring
One Star Story has spent nearly every day of 2008 on the road so far on a headlining tour with School Boy Humor and are set to head out on their first album release tour with support act
Kill Your Ex.
The band is assisted by Zack Person on guitar while touring.
