Different rooms have different acoustic responses. These depend upon the type of objects placed in the room and whether they are carpeted or not. A HiFi system reproduces the sound with as much fidelity as possible. High-end HiFi systems use DSP to determine the amount of treble (high frequency sound) and bass (low frequency sound) required to be sent to the speakers to achieve the balanced and equalized sound. Thus the spectrum of sound reaching the listener's ear is identical to the spectrum of recorded sound. HiFi sound systems have attached microphones to check the response of the room using frequency sweep or some other similar methods.
