In the mid-1990s, the company JumpStart was created as a series of educational games produced by Knowledge Adventure. By 2000, all the original games from Baby to 6th Grade were created (with the exception of JumpStart Kindergarten that was updated in 1998) and sold as a single disc. In 2000, all the games began to release with new covers (JumpStart 1st and 4th Grade updated considerably) and a second disc ("Around the World" for Kindergarten to 2nd Grade and "Adventure World" for 3rd Grade to 6th Grade) was added.
In 2002, all the original games from Toddler to 2nd Grade (with the exception of JumpStart Pre K) were replaced with newer, "advanced" versions that featured characters from many games rather than just the specific grade level. Daniel Jonathan Marcus-Best (born May 12, 1989) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is known for writing, producing, and directing such short films as [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1821702/ Wake (2009)], [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1977013/ Date of Loss (2011)] and [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1825766/ Fallen (2012)]. He has also co-written and co-starred in the short film [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1832336/ Earth Vs. Evil Aliens (2011)] that was directed by Skyler Hallowell and Paul Odrobina. He is the founder of the production company Falling Awake Productions.
He often collaborates with his close friend, writer David Hammond. Marcus and Hammond have collaborated on all three short films that Marcus has directed. Marcus has also collaborated with the writing-directing team of Skyler Hallowell and Paul Odrobina on Earth Vs. Evil Aliens and has assisted the team on two other short films including [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1943767/ Murmur (2011) ]and [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1941448/ Afflicted (2011)]. Marcus has also collaborated with cinematographer and film editor Brian Levin on both Wake and Fallen.
Personal life
Marcus was born in Chicago, the son of a father who works as a restaurant manager and a mother who is a real estate agent. He was raised as an only child even though he has four step-siblings. When he was five, he and his mother moved from Chicago to Sarasota, Florida where he was partially raised. He would spend the school year in Sarasota and spend summers and holidays in Chicago with his father and his aunt. Marcus was interested in politics until he discovered writing. He wrote his first feature-length screenplay at the age of fourteen.
Marcus was educated at Southside Elementary School in Sarasota. He also attended McIntosh Middle School and Sarasota Middle School. He enrolled at the Out-of-Door Academy at age fourteen when shortly after he dropped out. He would briefly attend the Sudbury school of Chicago before enlisting in virtual school and then getting his GED at the Sarasota County Technical Institute at age sixteen.
At seventeen he moved back to Chicago full-time. That year he co-wrote, co-produced, and directed his first short film entitled Wake in June 2008. He later directed Fallen that year in October 2008.
Professional life
Marcus directed his first short film, Wake, in 2008. The film depicts a young teen who recently loses his mother while trying to repair his estranged relationship with his father. It was inspired by Marcus' own tumultuous upbringing and his relationships with both his mother and his father. Marcus shot it with the assistance of cinematographer Brian Levin and a crew of ten over the course of three days. He was friends with the owners of the Lakeview Funeral Home and was able to use that funeral home as the setting of the film as a result.
Later that year he co-wrote, co-produced, and directed the superhero short film Fallen. He shot the film in downtown Chicago, Illinois in some of the same locations Christopher Nolan shot . Nolan and that film was an inspiration for Marcus when conceiving the film. He also filmed in Gary, Indiana. Once more he collaborated with Brian Levin who served as co-writer, co-producer, and cinematographer. Marcus wrote the initial first few drafts of the screenplay. He would later collaborate with writers David Hammond and Kenneth E. Carper. Marcus and Levin wrote the last draft of the screenplay together. The story deals with a superhero who abandons the city he swore to protect when the villain of the story threatens to destroy the entire city. The superhero, named Ephraim (Brian Kavanaugh), must contend with a scared population that cries out for his return, as well as face Bethany (Heather L. Tyler), the villain that pulls the strings from behind-the-scenes.
In 2011, Marcus directed Date of Loss, a science-fiction drama that deals with time travel. The story depicts a corporate tragedy which forces a grieving widow to turn to an unlikely source for comfort. Unlike Wake and Fallen, where Marcus conceived the story for both, David Hammond conceived the story for Date of Loss. Marcus and Hammond once more collaborated on the screenplay. This was the first film that Marcus had directed which wasn't shot in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Instead, Marcus shot the film in Columbus, Ohio.
That same year, Marcus would step in front of the camera for the very first time and take a co-starring role in the comedic short film Earth Vs. Evil Aliens. It was uncommon for Marcus who typically detests appearing in front of a camera. He is also credited as "co-writer" on the film. Marcus is close friends with writer-director Skyler Hallowell and has assisted him on all but one of his short films.

Alice Offley (born November 1, 1985) is a Swindon based British Singer/Songwriter and Pianist. Her haunting style uses elements of pop, folk, and blues to tell her tales of love and heartbreak. She belongs to a genre of music called Romantic Goth which encompasses elements of romance, life versus death, nature and fantasy. Her inspiration comes from the soft, dreamy, sensual and mysterious world of Gothic created by Victorian literature, not to be confused with the traditional Gothic that is more focused with darkness. Alice Offley prefers the more emotional and sensual side of Goth culture, steering away from the stereotypical Gothic black look and having a more floaty and brighter coloured image .
Early life
Alice Offley grew up in a musical family in Swindon - her father was a singer/songwriter in a Pop band in the 1960's and her mother has been a singer for all of Alices life. Alice Offley herself started playing the piano at the age of five and the flute at the age of ten, achieving all the classical grades upto Grade 8. Alice also went onto teach herself bass (left handed), guitar and trombone to a professional standard.
Career
Encouraged by her parents to write her own songs from the age of five Alice went on to perform her own creations in local cover bands in Wiltshire then joined a London based rock band called Alchemy. She then went onto play with an all girl band called Amazon.
In 2007 Alice contributed to a limited edition vinyl release of a Folk Inspired ballad joining other musicians to create an original piece of music.
Alice attended Arts Educational School, London where she achieved an MA in acting. At the tail end of the course Alice Offley joined Post-Punk all girl band band The Mentalists as a bassist. The Mentalists had limited success in London and nationwide touring. They reached the semi-finals of E4's Mobile Act Unsigned and received sponsorship from Fender Guitars. The Mentalists recorded with Andy Gill (Gang of Four) and Gavin Monaghan (The Editors, The Twang) and achieved international press recognition for the first band to play a song on Ipods. The Mentalists played the London circuit and played at Glastonbury and Ladyfest and went on to support Kate Nash, Hard Fi, Billy Bragg, Babyshambles and the Libertines.
Alice Offley then joined The She Beats with Holly Partridge (XTCs frontman Andy Partridge's daughter) demo-ing Apple's Logic Studio 8 at Abbey Road studios, receiving free Apple Laptops in sponsorship. The She Beats recorded with Steve Levine (Culture Club, China Crisis, Gary Moore) and supported Babyshambles at Barrowlands and Kendall Calling.
Alice Offley then went onto play piano with an all female jazz band called G&T and urban all female pop band Electric Dolls. Wanting to spread her wings creatively Alice Offley went solo creating a persona called MEOW until deciding in 2011 to rename herself to Alice. Her act consists of vocals, piano, harpsichord and organ.
She recorded her forthcoming E.P. "Bruise Like A Peach" with Stuart Rowe (Andy Partridge's APE Records producer).
Alices debut E.P. "Bruise Like A Peach" is due for independent release on 4 September 2011.
Session Work
Alice Offley has played keyboards for Cyndi Lauper on TV appearances including SO Graham Norton and Loose Women, Sang on 90's show Noel's House Party, had a brief stint playing Bass for Adam Ant and in April 2011 toured with Triphop artist Tricky on his Mixed Race European Tour. Alice Offley is due to tour with Suzi Quatro as a piano player in 2012.
Video Releases
Alice Offley's debut video "Something Beautiful" shot in Swindon, was met with a great response and is an integral part of her creative process seeing the medium as an extension of the idea contained in the song. Shot in the town centre using a now filled in underpass the video has become part of a local secondary schools Media course demonstrating creative ways to use seemingly common locations. Alice Offley's second video release "You're All I Want" followed a similar theme shooting in Lydiard Park and taking her song lyrics to a satisfactory visual conclusion.
