Raxola was a Belgian punk band spawned by the legendary Bastard, which also brought forth The Damned (through Brian James) and Elton Motello (through singer Alan Ward). Their debut album (1978) is now a collector’s item . Its CD re-mastered reissue has sold thousands of copies in Japan and hundreds in the USA. After a period of eclipse, Raxola enjoyed fame again following bootlegged compositions such as “Bloody Belgium” and “Bloodstains across Belgium” which was distributed worldwide in 1998.
Much appreciated for their rough pop punk songs and their somewhat socially and politically committed lyrics, Raxola has returned to the limelight, urged on by their fans. The only remaining original member, Yke N. Raxola (Yves Kengen) is now pushing ahead creating new material with Hadrien Frank, Dave Porzio and with a little help from Brian James, Fabrizio Manzini and other friends.
The close encounter between an old punk fox and two young wolves raised on grunge proved successful, as they stepped into the UK with Chromium Records’ “Unsung Heroes” compilation (they won the audience poll), and become fully involved in the collective “Punk Against Blair” project launched in May 2005 in London.
The new album, provisionally entitled “Come Back Shoes” will be released in 2007.

Juniper Productions is a drama group based at the Jubilee Theatre, St Nicholas Hospital in Gosforth, Newcastle. The group was founded in 1998 (with their first show Cinderella in 1999) by Jonathan Peacock as a means for building confidence with sufferers of Enduring Mental Health Difficulties, via a number of activities.
Each year the group performs a number of shows for both the general public and patients and service users of the hospital.
The Jubilee Theatre
The theatre was opened on May 30th 1900 Victorian with a beautiful proscenium arch of Doulton tiles by W.J. Neatby, depicting two pre-Raphaelite figures which face East & West, as the Theatre faces True North & South. It was built for Staff & Patients of the Hospital.

The theatre was used to put on shows and also dances, with a sprung dance floor made from maple. Below this floor there is also a full sized orchestra pit, not used today but could be if part of the front of stage was removed as this has been extended recently covering the orchestra pit up.
In the early 1920s a projection room was added at the back of the building, so films could be shown housing at least two projectors which are still there today but are not used now. A cinema screen was also purchased and could be flown in, in front of the proscenium arch, this came in a large wooden box on a large steel roller and was wound up from the roof space to its full height with lead weights, we also still have the original screen and its box.
There are two doors leading into the theatre from the corridor next to each other, this was because in those days the hospital was divided up men at one end and women at the other, the doors had to be entered left by men and right door by women, and when going through to the main auditorium men had to stay on the left and women on the right, they were only allowed to get together for dancing. Doctors and other staff sat next to the stage, and occasionally danced with a few patients.
On the men's side there was also a door out to the smoking promenade, which is now a fire corridor. Stan Laurel is said to have performed on this stage in the early 1900s.
