Family Island is a farm type casual game developed by Melsoft Games. It is a family sitcom about survival in the Stone Age. The game was released worldwide on October 23, 2019, on both Android and iOS platforms.
Plot
The game setting is a Stone Age, but after our era, which came as a result of a major cataclysm. In the course of the story, the player will have to take a family of characters from the Stone Age and help them survive on a previously uninhabited island.
A player starts with collecting resources and exploring the surroundings to discover the items which can be used to survive. One of the most urgent tasks is to build a shelter. During the game plot, a player will grow crops, craft different goods, trade with other characters, explore the original and new islands, and communicate with local tribes. As the game progresses, the characters will find some artifacts that relate to our time: for example, a shaman's house made from a communications point where one can see a satellite dish. There are 40 episodes-levels in the game. By completing characters’ quests, a player levels up the game so that new buildings, decorations, and other features get unlocked. Each new building provides the family with new facilities.
The plot of the game is not linear, as it depends on the choice of the player at a certain moment. That is, the player controls the plot of the game.
Gameplay
From the beginning, the basic player’s job is cutting down trees, collecting vegetables and fruits, mining stone. One of the game features is a limited amount of energy. The energy constrains and enables the work a player can do during some time. Characters have to wait to regain or eat some food to keep on working. It is a farm type game, meaning that a player should start farming, using different ancient technologies to survive. Growing a variety of agricultural crops and accumulating enough resources, the player can trade with other characters. For this purpose, it is also possible to craft different useful goods. To make the island more productive, a player can create and discover new recipes that will help to reach the goal.
There is a premium in-game currency called ruby that player can earn completing some special tasks. The audience of the game is mostly female with an age level of 25+.
Interesting Facts
Game developers have decided to add dinosaurs to the game in the following updates. Although this is illogical, the players of the game expressed a unanimous desire to meet the dinosaurs in the game.
