Gene Peter Fallaize (born November 16, 1984) is a British film producer. Fallaize is also the CEO of production company Cupsogue Pictures, which is notable for imploring fresh talent in the motion picture industry.
Formerly a radio presenter and audio producer, Fallaize went into television production in 2003, before making the transition into film in 2006. He is currently producing horror film The Summoning in Los Angeles.
Biography
Fallaize, who has worked in the broadcast media industry all his life and is now based in Hollywood, was born in Kettering, England, and moved to the Island of Guernsey in the English Channel at the age of four with his parents.
He started his entertainment career at the age of 14 as on-air personality at 'Jubilee Radio' in Guernsey. At 17, he was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the station, which at the time made him the youngest member of the HBA ever to hold such an established role. He moved away from Guernsey in 2001 after working for every single one of the islands' media outlets, including Channel Television, BBC Radio Guernsey and Island FM, and went on to work for most UK radio groups including Tindle Radio, G-Cap Media, the Capital Radio Group and the world renowned BBC, as well as many independent and RSL stations right across the country before successfully starting his own audio-production company in England, 'Gene Fallaize Productions', offering complete post-production audio solutions.
In 2002 he made the transition into television as a broadcast engineer for 'Rear Window Television', and soon thereafter was promoted to the role of Engineering Support Manager. During his time in television, Fallaize worked all around the world from China to Los Angeles, and worked alongside many British and international personalities such as Nicolas Cage, Drew Barrymore, Denise Van Outen, Peter Andre, Chris Tarrant, Lucy Davis, Katie Price (Jordan), Jamelia, and Emma Bunton. Whilst in Los Angeles, Fallaize got his first real taste of the film industry, and although he didn't know it at the time, his life was about to change forever.
In 2006, he became involved in Nick Love's British action film Outlaw (2007) as an Executive Producer, providing him with his first feature film 'producer' credit. This was the moment in which he realized that producing was exactly what he wanted to do, and in 2006 he expanded his audio production company 'Gene Fallaize Productions' to incorporate a new film production arm, Cupsogue Pictures, thus forming 'The GFP Group'. Fallaize is now the global CEO of Cupsogue Pictures, which has branches in England and Los Angeles, and he retains an involvement in every film they are produce, usually in a producer capacity, including the critically acclaimed Outlaw (2007) starring Sean Bean and Bob Hoskins, and the film and television series, Star Child (2008-) written by Ernest Porter.
Recent work includes producing horror shorts Shattered Mind (2008) and the award-winning 8ight Limbs (2008), as well as experimental feature adventure-drama Monkeyshine (2008), which was also his first sole-producer role. Current work includes producing slasher The Summoning (2010), written by bestselling author Lindy S. Hudis, and directed by Hollywood Veteran Stephen R. Hudis. Upcoming work includes action-thriller Crashers (2011), and romantic-comedy Let's Just Do It (2011) which Fallaize has written and will also be directing. In addition, he is writing and producing a high-profile picture based on the events surrounding the true events of the crash of TWA Flight 800.
Fallaize shares his time between London and Los Angeles, where he continues to work with regular associates Michael Sani, Lindy S. Hudis and Stephen R. Hudis. He has one son, Peter Fallaize, who was born in 2007.
Career
Outlaw
In 2006, after what Fallaize himself refers to as "a conglomerate of strange events", he became involved in Nick Love's action film Outlaw in an Executive Producer role - production based. As a production-only producer, Fallaize's credit varies between theatrical and DVD copies of the film (his name was moved to the end of the DVD credits).
8ight Limbs
In 2007, Fallaize provided valuable advice to co-directors Jamie Rae and Daniel Anscombe for their horror short "8ight Limbs", for which Fallaize was offered an Executive Producer role on the film. "8ight Limbs" remains his only short film credit to date. Fallaize couldn't attend filming of "8ight Limbs" as he was a guest at the 80th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, and as such, he avoided not only some of the coldest temperatures in England during the shoot, but also one of Britain's strongest earthquakes in many years. 8ight Limbs went on to win the Total Film Award at the 2008 Icewhole Film Awards.
Monkeyshine
In 2007, whilst location scouting in Los Angeles for another project, Fallaize and writer Nathan Spencer discussed producing a film that could showcase new talent within the business by offering anyone who was interested a place on the production, as long as they had enough passion and drive. Within a few months, the film had received massive media coverage, and a cast and crew of over 100, made up entirely (with the exception of Fallaize and Spencer) of people with little or no experience was in place. Before filming began, Spencer, who was slated to direct the film, had to pull out for personal reasons, which prompted Fallaize to hire 8ight Limbs co-director Jamie Rae to direct the film. Monkeyshine was filmed in locations right across the UK and on Herm Island during the summer of 2008, and starred Aaron Scully, Mandy Highton, Amy McKeown and Michael Sani. Monkeyshine was nominated in 2009 for a Star Award for Best Picture.
The Summoning
In 2008 Fallaize was approached by bestselling author Lindy S. Hudis to produce a screenplay she had written with her husband, entitled Bloody Mary, based on the urban legend of the same name. After Fallaize accepted the role, he immediately suggested they change the title, so the public wouldn't confuse the picture with other films of the same title, so it was changed to Bloody Mary: The Summoning, before a final change a few months later to The Summoning. By February 2009, the script was almost complete, and the team had provisionally cast Robert Carradine for the role of Detective Lewis, and secured Hollywood veteran Stephen R. Hudis to direct the film. Filming is scheduled to commence during summer 2009 in Iowa and Los Angeles.
Crashers
During pre-production for The Summoning, Fallaize was pitched another screenplay by Lindy Hudis about insurance fraud in Los Angeles, which he accepted. Originally slated for production in 2010/2011, another of his productions was put back, so Crashers was bumped up by a year, meaning it will begin pre-production whilst The Summoning is still in post-production.
Let's Just Do It
Whilst living in Los Angeles in 2008, Fallaize began writing his first romantic comedy screenplay, based partially on his own life, which was to become Let's Just Do It. Written with Fallaize's dry British humor, the story takes place between London and Los Angeles, and already had lots of interest in the industry both from studio involvement, to preliminary cast that are already in play.
