The Oxford Companion to Chess lists 1,327 named openings and variants. Some openings have been given fanciful names, often names of animals. The Dragon Variation of the Sicilian Defence was named in 1901 after its resemblance of Black's kingside pawn structure to the constellation Draco, It is one of the sharpest of all chess openings, with ten named sub-variations analysed in Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings.
The Orang-Utan Opening was an occasional novelty named by the witty Polish master Savielly Tartakower in 1924. Nevertheless the Orang-Utan's wide range of options has attracted attention from analysts. Some animal variations have development from novelties into serious competition weapons, for example the Hippopotamus Defence looks passive but offers opportunities for well-timed counter-attacks. The similar Hedgehog Opening may leave the White pieces with an impressive position but little prospect of making progress, and Black may threaten a breakthrough at the right time.
Analysts continued to devise new variations, some named after animals. For example Stefan Bücker introduced the Vulture and Hawk variations, to bring fun and creativity to chess lessons for young players.
Below is a list of chess openings named after animals.

Wild Bot Game is a first and third person 3D puzzle game developed by Wild Team.
Still in development this game is meant to be published in the first quarter of 2014 for iPad and iPhone devices.
Wild Team are Juanan jimenez, Josep Vidal and Benet Carrasco.
Josep Vidal heads up the development and Benet Carrasco, level designer and 3D artist. Juanan Jimenez is in charge of some development and also some of the conceptual and 3D art.
Although all the member careers has been related with digital advertising for the last 10 years, they decided to join their common passion for video games and build Wild Bot.
Game synopsis
Human Kind´s existence has been eradicated from earth due to their own creation; the evil robots from Crunch Time Corporation. The future looks bleak for human life on this planet.
However, there is a humble creation within the carnage of Wild Bot - a tiny workshop - which can restore human life on earth: The Human Source. From a small sample of DNA, a powerful source of energy can bring human life back to planet earth.
Crunch Time Corps evil bots knew the existence of this amazing new energy source, and it didn't take long for these evil bots to steal it from the Wild Bot premises after the mass elimination of humankind.
But, there is another unlikely invention from the Wild Bot engineers, a small jumping robot named Roscoe who was initially created to help the less fortunate have an easier life. Yet, in a world without humans, he no longer has a sense of purpose. Unless, he can reclaim back the Human Source from the evil clutches of the bots at Crunch Time.
Despite being a small, rusty and unlikely hero, Roscoe demonstrates that you don´t need big weapons to outsmart the evil bots at their Crunch Time castle....
Roscoe
Roscoe is the oldest model from the Wild Bot Workshop, it was meant to help the less fortunate. it was built by the naked hands of skilled artisans, in the Wild Bot shop.
Roscoe moves around jumping on one leg, sometimes he can be a bit slow as he wasn’t designed to win a race. Roscoe moves around jump by jump, as the people he had to help couldn´t.
For this purpose, Roscoe can keep items in his back, where the inventory is. To open the inventory door, just pinch in the screen in order to show it up.
roscoe.
Crunchtime Corporation
Crunchtime are responsible for the mass extinction of Human kind. Crunchtime Corp, was initiated by humans in order to make profit from Artificial Intelligence.
They were ready to show the world the most smartest machines: robots with powerful destructive weapons!
An Iron Army to sell to the biggest buyer… the expected profits were immeasurable.
But something went wrong.
This robot army just had one target: the destruction of human kind.
Years later, the robots succeeded in their mission - humans had be wiped from earth. However, a small and rusty unarmed robot has just woken up…

DJ Fluker Violations
On September 11, 2013, the 100 year anniversary of 's birth, reported that former University of Alabama football player Luther Davis was implicated in schemes to provide improper benefits to several former collegiate football players. Notably, 2011 Championship Season and 2012 Championship Season participant DJ Fluker was one of the five recipients of benefits named. Yahoo! Sports supported the story with subsequent reports containing evidence, such as money transfer receipts, merchandise invoices, flight records, and documented text messages. In addition to DJ Fluker, the report indicates improper benefits may have been received by former Crimson Tide starters Josh Chapman and Mark Barron. The allegations, if proven, could lead to the NCAA stripping titles from Alabama.
Player Clinton-Dix and Assistant Strength Coach Corey Harris
On October 3, 2013, the Tuscaloosa News reported Alabama assistant strength and training coach Corey Harris had provided improper monetary benefits to . The coach gave Clinton-Dix a loan of less than $500 after the player's 2012 Dodge Charger was burglarized in Tuscaloosa. Clinton-Dix repaid the loan. He was reinstated after a 2-game suspension.
