The Two Penny Game was created in 1996 by Edward Slack at Newcastle-under-Lyme School, Staffordshire, UK in Mr Cash's 1NB form. The game involves using a two penny piece and a smooth table (preferably and originally) a 6ft by 3ft. However the game can be played on any size and dimension table.
Rules of the game:
To see who goes first a coin is flicked with one player calling heads or tails. The winner of this goes first.
The two pence piece is then partly placed over one edge of the table with part of the coin touching the table and the rest of the coin dangling over the edge. The player then has to hit the coin using their hand (either with the hand forming a fist or the palm of the hand facing towards the coin and striking the coin in this manner). The aim of the game is to get your coin from dangling over one side of the table to dangling over the other side using as few shots as possible (maximum of 3 shots). -After the intial shot called the 'strike' the ramaining shots are different. Now the player has to push the coin using their finger in one clean stroke as close to the edge of the table as possible. This shot being called the 'push'. If the 'strike' or the 'push' go off the table (either widthwise or lengthwise) then it is the end of that persons go and the next player has his turn. The maximum number of shots allowed is 3 which included one 'strike' and two 'pushes'.
If the person makes the coin dangle on the opposite side of the table the player gets so many points depending on how many shots they took. If they make it in one shot (the 'strike') then they get 3 points. If they make it in two shots (one 'strike' and one 'push' they get 2 points, and if they make it in three shots (one 'strike' and two 'pushes' they get 1 point. However you only get the points if you 'convert' the coin.
A convertion is made by flicking the coin with one finger that is dangling over the edge and catching it in one hand. The coin is then spun on the table at the same side as where the 'strike' took place and then while it is spinning has to be caught between the players two thumbs and then fired bewteen two goal posts at the other side of the table (the goal posts are formed my the opposing player by him/her joining his thumbs together horizontally with the fingers facing down touching the table)
The first player to reach 20 points or more wins the game
Credit has to be given to Alistair Davies of the same form in school who added the aspect of spinning the coin and firing the coin towards the goal to be able to get the points
