Kenneth “Ken” Poirot (born October 11, 1971) is an American author, scientist, financial professional, and public speaker. He is a published scientist for his work at MD Anderson Cancer Center through the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. The scientific paper he co-authored, Lipid-Complexed Camptothecin: Formulation and Initial Biodistribution and Antitumor Activities Studies, published in Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, has been cited 30 times by other scientific papers published by numerous researchers as per Scopus. Eventually, he was granted a US Patent for his research packaging Camptothecin, ananti-tumor, cancer chemotherapeutic drug, in a lipid complexed substrate (employing liposome technology). After leaving research and spending over 18 years in the financial services industry, he published the book, Mentor Me: GA=T+E—A Formula to Fulfill Your Greatest Achievement (May 2014), based upon his professional and personal experiences.
Early life
Poirot grew up in Northport, New York on Long Island’s North Shore. Poirot credits some of his early learning experiences in management and leadership from his time running cross country under Coach Gehrhardt. He would later write about this in his book, Mentor Me, and in his blog. Poirot graduated from Cornell University in 1993 with a B.S. in Microbiology. Upon graduating, he moved to Houston, Texas entering a PhD. Program in Cancer Research through the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Career
While studying for his PhD., he worked on a new drug delivery system for an existing drug, Camptothecin. His work was later published in an oft-cited paper he co-authored while in the Thoracic Head and Neck Medical Oncology Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Additionally, he was granted a US Patent, #5834012, titled Lipid Complexed Topoisomerase I Inhibitors, for his research.
In 1995, he left research to pursue a career in financial services with American Express Financial Advisors, Inc., where he earned his investment licenses. He spent over 18 years in the financial services industry working for such New York Stock Exchange-listed firms as The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE: SCHW), Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER, now part of Bank of America, NYSE: BAC), Cullen/Frost Bankers (NYSE: CFR), BBVA (NYSE: BBVA which acquired Guaranty Bank during the financial crisis), and JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) according to the US securities regulator, FINRA.
As the Senior Vice President and Sales Manager of Frost Bank’s (Cullen/Frost Banker’s) brokerage department, he led his unit to four consecutive years of double-digit revenue growth, increasing revenue by over 83%, while increasing the profit margin from 26% to 37%. At the same time he increased the production of the average Investment Officer (financial advisor) from under $25,000 a month to over $41,000 a month.
During one of his speaking engagements at the annual Bank Insurance Securities Association in Hollywood, Florida, he was noted for leading his bank brokerage department to two consecutive years of double-digit revenue growth, while peer bank brokerage programs were struggling by American Banker. Per Matt Ackermann with American Banker in his article titled, Cross-Sales Seen as a Cure for Weak Investing Units, he cited Ken Poirot as stating, “aggressive cross-selling can deliver immediate dividends. Since he became sales manager in 2004, he said, the brokerage unit has managed two consecutive years of double-digit revenue growth—11% in 2004 and 15% in 2005.” This article can also be seen on his website, mentormegate.com
After his time with JPMorgan Chase, he authored a book based upon the training he received and taught during his tenure in financial services. He blended this training with his personal experiences, adding enhancements based upon real-world, practical, hands-on application, in order to deliver a concise, succinct package for the everyday person.

Clonazolam (or Clonitrazolam) is a benzodiazepine derivative of clonazepam and a central nervous system depressant. It is a sedative, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant. Like alprazolam, clonazolam contains a benzene ring fused with a 1,2,4-triazole ring, but is otherwise structurally identical to clonazepam.
Long-term effects of benzodiazepines include tolerance, benzodiazepine dependence, and benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome.
Mechanism of action
Clonazolam acts by binding to the benzodiazepine site of the GABA receptors, which enhances the electric effect of GABA binding on neurons, resulting in an increased influx of chloride ions into the neurons. This further results in an inhibition of synaptic transmission across the central nervous system. Benzodiazepines themselves do not have any direct effect on the levels of GABA in the brain.
