Khalil Salem Sugui or Khalil Salem (March 30, 1982) is a Brazilian spiritualist writer, philanthropist and educator. His books have themes related to religious tolerance, ecumenism, but with a slightly spiritualist trend, influenced by authors like Allan Kardec and Chico Xavier.
Biography and career
Khalil Salem was born in São Paulo on March 30, 1982. He is the son of a professor of mathematics and an Italian people immigrant who arrived in Brazil during the Second World War.
He had a slightly limited childhood because of some weaknesses that have hampered its development, mainly to socialize with their colleagues in basic education. This provided the author a rather introspective style. These characteristics are often looked to the characters of his novels, who see a moral duty to overcome obstacles. This literary style can be seen in your current books but had the source for nearly ten years, during which time he wrote his first novel, entitled 'The Diary of Clarissa', a book that deals with human issues sometimes associated with moral or ethical issues, but that does not symbolize the current author's literary period, effectively today more centered on spiritual books, which treat the same moral questions, but through a more complex angle.
In the same period, makes contact with a publishing house which published his first book, where he served for almost 15 years, organizing books, writing more works and acting as grammatical reviewer judicial texts, area of expertise of the publishing house where she worked. The poor image dissipated during youth, when completed college and began publishing his books, but still focused on academics.
In the meantime, just before finishing the post-graduate studies and obtaining a Master's degree in 2008, Khalil Salem had the first contacts with spiritualism, while still guided by no clear trends. But two years later he published texts grounded in ecumenical principles, but with directions that pointed clearly to Spiritualism. This was confirmed by the formal publication of his own Ecumenical Portal in 2010, citing directly from Chico Xavier and Allan Kardec texts, authors also used directly and indirectly in his writings and publications. A few years later he earned a PhD degree in Portuguese Language and Grammar, exceeding the expectations of his former teachers, who still kept in memory the image of a fragile boy.
During the transition period between the academic and notably spiritualist period, the author reveals other aspects of his literary composition. Intense changes in language also accompanied thematic changes: the language was more elaborate and erudite, and elucidated issues such as religious tolerance, interfaith and ecumenism. The books, in general, exposed the importance of solidarity and charity.
Since 2008, when he published his first novel spiritualist, the author uses as a mark of its editorial collection nomenclature Fenix Spirit, which actually symbolizes the rise of people passing by numerous upheavals, but leaving more empowered these obstacles. The great idea of naming Fenix Spirit is to point out that every problem happens to the human being to advance continuously.
Khalil Salem exposes and publicizes their books for free as a way to expose the importance of charity today.
Publications
While much of the author's publications are located in the academic world, recently he intensely dedicated to the spiritual literature, including the use of many coming from spiritualism quotes in their scientific work and scholarly publications.
Scientific and academic publications
The use of short quotations focused on spirituality has not affected the credibility and quality of academic or scientific works, which use the spiritual principles just as weighting or secondary reflections, but never as central themes, centered in this case on pure science. Scientific publications of Khalil Salem investigate linguistic issues integrated into epistemological phenomena. This is observable in his doctoral thesis, based on the thoughts of the philosopher Michael Polanyi and the creation of tacit knowledge.
Spiritualist publications
The greatest contribution of Khalil Salem publications are in the world of spiritual literature, although the author does not equal great notability of authors such as Chico Xavier or Divaldo Pereira Franco. Khalil Salem figure as a spiritualist author of small magnitude, but may in the future achieve greater notability.
Although the books to have a flowery language, they have a simple structure without elaborate plots. The text focuses on the dialogues of the characters, showing their distress and afflictions. Often the book uses these issues to reflect on human values and exposes the human growth—the human being evolves whenever solves their problems, improving in patience, faith and inner balance.
The books deal with religious themes, but do not have a doctrinal aspect. In general, they support the idea that spirituality is the great support to overcome the small and large problems.
The author has two major books on spiritualism area:
*O Romance da Unidade (2008)
*O Romance do Espiritualismo (2015)
Both books offer a similar view and clarify that human beings always suffer in proportion to the mistakes made in life. The easiest way to be happy is to live so far from evil actions, which always lead to suffering sooner or later.
The notable difference between the two books is that O Romance da Unidade (2008) brings an easier language and many stories that facilitate the understanding of basic concepts of spirituality. The narrative of O Romance da Unidade is simple, almost always based between a couple of friends, whose names are Wisdom, a very young girl but very smart, and Desire, a teenager with many internal conflicts. Wisdom seek help Desire, guiding him through stories and parables. And, in a mysterious way, the central issue of these short stories intersect mystically with various everyday situations. In O Romance do Espiritualismo, the stories are much shorter and are interspersed pendularly with questions and answers exist throughout the book. The book has very strong signals of classical spiritualism and less significant contributions to O Romance da Unidade with regard to the idea of promoting ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue.
The the Brazilian Book Chamber - CBL attaches to book (O Romance da Unidade, 2009) seven conceptual foundations: Christianity, Ecumenism, Spirituality, Faith, Sacred, Mysteries and Theology.
Literary style
Khalil Salem follows the traditional style of classical authors of Spiritualism. And this is seen both in their language and in their content, which has few variations in relation to the authors of the 20th and even 19th century. This can sometimes be a problem, especially with regard to language, because this kind of style hinders the fluency of reading. In some cases, the vocabulary does not fit with the language commonly used at present, but this unusual feature can simultaneously be a writing style, depending on point of reference.
Influence of Allan Kardec and Chico Xavier
The works of Khalil Salem are clearly influenced by Allan Kardec and Chico Xavier mainly. Some similar aspects to these works are:
* book guided by the predominant use of dialogue (method established by Plato in Classical Philosophy and serves as inspiration for much of the current spiritualist production)
* the flowery language, like that used by Chico Xavier.
* direct references to authors such as Chico Xavier. This feature can be seen even in their scientific work.
* the dense bibliographic reference, deeply influenced by studies spiritualist Allan Kardec and other authors classics of Spiritualism, as Arthur Conan Doyle and Plato.
* free distribution of books, probably inspired by the editorial practice of Chico Xavier.
Controversy
Publications attempt to analyze and promote issues such as inter-religious and ecumenism, but have clear tendencies of spiritualist literature. Additionally, use a few quotes from other religious currents. This fact underscores the importance of the work, which has a biased direction.
Controversy refuted
The controversy the book has bases of Spiritualism in its main structure can be challenged in many ways totally plausible. Some of these defenses can be found in the book of the content itself, which states emphatically decent amount of other religions.
Also, being in line with the editorial indications expressed in the 'Document cataloging' of the Brazilian Book Chamber, the book, in fact, does not express signs advocating the principles of reincarnation, fundamental basis of Spiritualism, although it also does not condemn or criticize this belief. The book is centered harmoniously with religious respect, and sees spirituality as a path to a more peaceful life, as opposed to the hardness often imposed by materialism. In this sense, refers to Spiritualism because it exposes, in his own book, that Spiritualism is the conceptual source with the highest amplitude (under a technical point of view) on the spiritual study.
Philanthropy
The themes related to charity in his books can be seen in his personal life, as the author often active in social work. It is often associated with social work promoted by the Roman Catholic Church. In academia, philanthropic assists some authors to publish their texts through grants, funds and programs to support research. The idea of philanthropy experienced by the author in social services, both in the Roman Catholic Church as in their academic services, is often expressed in many of his books and even scientific publications. In this sense, the author encourages the disinterested aid as natural mechanism of individual evolution.
Professional life
Currently works as a professor at the Federal Institute in Santa Catarina. Teaches Portuguese Language and Grammar. Created in 2012 an editorial collection focused on Linguistics and Education area called CAELE. He founded a philanthropic system of research funds for publication of scientific texts.
Personal life
Khalil Salem married early and lives with his wife and children in south/southeastern Brazil, devoting much of his time to writing books and other studies.

A Muwahhid, Muwahhid Muslim or Unitarian Muslim is a Muslim who places an emphasis on the concept of tawhid. Although many movements have used this term "muwahhid", this page focuses on the conglomeration of non-political and primarily theological Muslim revivalist movements that grew in various intermittent periods including the early 19th century.
Lexicology
The transliteration of the term "Muwahhid" comes in various forms, including Muwahid, Mowahhid. In Its plural form they may be described as Muwahhidun, Muwahhideen or simple Muwahhids. Some female Muwahhid Muslims refer to themselves as Muwahhidah. The closest translation of Muwahhid into English would correspond to "Unitarian Muslim", and some Muwahhids who anglicise their affiliation call themselves as such. Although the various spellings may include misspellings, plural variation, classical figure of speech pronunciation, pronounced adverb forms, scanno spellings or extant peninsular unclassified isolates that result from multiple linguistic transcriptions. Less common plural spellings include muwahidin, mowahidoon, mowahhidiin. Furthermore, this term is being frequently used by Druses and Wahhabis in order to define their tawhid aqidah.
Appropriation
However the terms should not be confused with other types of individuals since there are many groups who have appropriated the term Muwahhid. These include for example the Druze, or the Berber sect which culminated in the Almohad Dynasty, both of whom call themselves as such, along with synonyms such as (), which would translate as "The People of Unity" or "The Unitarians", from ', unity (of God). The Mu'tazili also used the term along with near synonyms such as Ahl al-ʿAdl wa t-Tawḥīd, meaning "The People of Justice and Monotheism".
Unitarian Muslim tenets
Based on the distinctions in this article there is complete overlap with between Muwahhid Muslims and the broader Muslim body of beliefs who also place tawheed as the primary reference in describing the relation between God and other than God. As a result, the terms can be used interchangeably and it will not be sufficient to identify a particular sect from the broader body of Muslims unless placed in a specific context. Proponents of the Muwahhid school of thought sometimes claim that their affiliation to this emphasis comes as a result of the Quran. They claim that the Quran similarly emphasizes tawheed, therefore Muslims should obey Allah and do the same. Muwahhids traditionally relied on religious discourse to dissuade individuals from following what they deemed to be idolatrous attributions to God. This sometimes included arguments against the addition of consubstantial persons to their conception of God and the haramness of giving animalistic features to God. Furthermore, their arguments against the excessive emphasization of intermediaries between mankind and God was primarily based on a fear of giving leeway to overzealous mosquegoers who might possibly exploit and manipulate less religiously grounded mosquegoers.
Since Muwahhids predominate in Sunnicentric centers of worship, some Muwahhids questioned the hadithically derived sunnah that had little to no feedback from ayahs in the Quran as well as the tendency among masjidgoers (mosquegoers) to give undue weight to non-tafsir elucidations that have no Quranically derived roots. Although all Muslims share the concept of tawhid as one of the pillars of their faith, Muwahhidists differ in that tawhid constitutes a comprehensive overview that is elevated to an all-encompassing primacy of their faith as well as a tendency for reactionary proactivism to environments that seem fluid in this regard. Muwahhidism has no clear ideology and has predominantly been used as an appellation or moniker by various Muslims. However one character that seems to trend across most Muwahhids is that Allah is viewed as holding supreme authority in matters of fiqh, a propensity and sentiment that is sometimes accompanied by a desrire to eradicate excessive human interpolation from areas such as the quranicities of scripture and ideology.
