Skyline Turbine is an alternative energy wind turbine dealer headquartered in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Charlottesville, VA. Locally harvested wind power rapidly became economically feasible through new government tax incentives and the strong consumer need for an alternative to older methods of energy production.
By ensuring that sites are away from turbulent air, Skyline Turbine is able to take advantage of the most efficient air flow available at their sites. The team who created the Skyline Turbine initiative are dedicated to producing only green electricity. The individually catered energy systems that they create are designed to provide clean, efficient energy without harm to the environment.
Skyline Turbine provides information, installation, consultations, and service of wind power generators for industrial, municiapal, residential, and commercial electricity. They have achieved a variety of new applications through their relationships and usage of commercial, architectural, and marine/RV turbines and manufacturers.
Recent Developments
At the January 13th, 2009 meeting of the Albemarle County Planning Commission, it was determined that planning staff should work on an ordinance regarding wind turbines for the Virginia County. Planning Commissioner Marcia Joseph (At-Large) expressed concern that tabling the wind turbine ordinance would set Albemarle County back in their ability to be on the cutting edge of the renewable energy issue. Commissioners Joseph and Bill Edgerton (Jack Jouett) volunteered to assist staff in the drafting of a new ordinance." .
The work that Skyline Turbine is engaged in is in line with building momentum in this country for alternative energy in response to geopolitical pressure from abroad. .

Bintro (short for business introduction) provides a business networking tool built using semantic agent search query technology (semantic technology). The site is a virtual information exchange and matchmaking site for individuals, businesses, employers, job seekers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs designed to increases performance and productivity. Officially launched on February 29, 2009, Bintro provides an intelligent agent to anonymously find and introduce professionals with specific needs and interests to appropriate individuals and organizations that match for jobs, services, goods or the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The site is powered by a semantic technology that enables members to automatically find the most relevant knowledge, resources and solutions. The profile process allows the site to find the most relevant opportunities for users on an ongoing basis, while allowing users to remain anonymous during the search and shopping process. Site visitors are matched with others based on the merits of their experience and skills and because an agent represents both parties, personal information is not revealed until both parties agree on the match. In Bintro’s case it is what you know and not who you know unlike the matching process used on LinkedIn.
For large organizations Bintro serves as a knowledge management and collaboration tool across departments and functional areas. It helps people find skills, information and answers they need without sacrificing productivity in the process.
Features
The purpose of Bintro is to automatically match registered users to opportunities such as jobs, business opportunities, barter options and service providers using semantic technology.
*Bintro uses semantic technology for the purpose of matchmaking. Users describe themselves and their needs by filling out profiles and broadcasts. Bintro analyzes the words and phrases users submit on the basis of similarity and usage. This process is completed within seconds and matches are continually presented via email or SMS as they become available making the temporal nature of information no longer an issue.
*Anonymity is a key feature of Bintro and serves two purposes. First is the protection of users’ identity and assurance that their information is secure. The second purpose of anonymity on Bintro is to create an emphasis on users' credentials and interests, rather than on what their name is and who they know. This makes Bintro an object-centered social site.
*Bintro is three different systems; 1.The Bintro web application publishes agents and consumes matches. 2. Message queues route agents and manage load allowing the system to buffer throughput and also scale effectively. 3. Active semantic repositories store the agents, manage them and let them interact.
*When agents find matches the results are sent to the queue and then back to the Bintro website. The process occurs within seconds whenever a match is found. The system allows agents to automatically update when the member’s criteria change such as geographic distance, agent sensitivity to the criteria or addition or removal of information.
*Semantic agents act as facilitators that relieve users from time consuming and tedious sifting/filtering/reading/processing and allow them to focus on decisions that accelerate their personal and business development.
Semantic Technology
Bintro uses a form of semantic technology for the purpose of matchmaking. Typical matchmaking services use multiple choice questions, numbered scales and key words to find matches. However, the semantic technology employed on Bintro does not limit the breadth and depth of user expression or lessen the quality of matches as a result. With Bintro, users are given the opportunity to freely describe themselves and their needs in their own language using their own words. All the words and phrases used are extensively analyzed on the basis of their relationship to each other and the concepts they relate to, making sure the meaning and intent of user descriptions are actually understood as a whole. For example, using the method of common matchmaking services, someone looking for a "loan for new utility construction" would be matched to a "utility contractor", simply because of the key word "utility". In comparison, Bintro would match "loan for new utility construction" with "project financing for a power plant". Bintro provides more relevant and useful matches and is the result of its refined sensitivity to industry specific terms and phrases and how they are naturally used in context with other words.
