The Australian Consul-General in Chicago represents the Australian Government in Chicago.
The Consulate-General carries out visiting and reporting responsibilities for California north of the 36N parallel, Idaho, Montana, Nevada except for Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The Consulate-General was closed in 1993 due to budget constraints, but re-opened in 2001.

Ethelbert (Bert, Red) LeRoy Nevens (born February 15, 1902) was an American politician and a member of the American Socialist Party. He was a candidate for the Massachusetts Auditor in the Massachusetts General Election, 1962 and the Massachusetts General Election, 1964.
Bert Nevens was born and raised in East Milton, Massachusetts and attended Milton High School and was the Senior Class President in 1919. He graduated from Brown University in 1925 where he was a member of the Outdoor track club and cross-country. He served as the Cross-country captain in 1924. He was also a member of the Bear Club.
He died on October 31, 1964.

Edward "Ted" Byrt (born 1950) is an Australian commercial lawyer, company director and former presiding member of South Australia's Development Assessment Commission.
Career
Byrt obtained a law degree from the University of Adelaide, and went on to become a partner of Norman Waterhouse Lawyers in Adelaide, where he worked from 1973 until 2007. He has acted as a strategic advisor for a range of major infrastructure projects within Australia and abroad, He has been a director of a range of Australian companies spanning information systems, air-conditioning, viticulture and carbon sequestration sectors.
As of 2015, Byrt is a director of Papyrus Australia Ltd, the ASX-Listed Treyo Leisure & Entertainment Ltd, SMAC Technologies Pty Ltd, the Aboriginal Foundation of SA Inc, Byrt has acted as a spokesperson for Papyrus Australia, promoting its development of tray packaging manufactured from banana palm waste with potential to replace single-use plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables. In 2015, Byrt was acting as a consulting lawyer for the Adelaide City Council, while it investigated the conduct of one of its councilors.
