Shaman Wheels Mercedes-Benz had organised a two days Mercedes-Benz off-road event. The event was timed during the GLC launch; held on 17th and 18th June 2016 at BKC. Firstly would like to thanks, offroad Junkies , to introduce the concept of off-road in India & another part of Southeast Asia. I was invited by Mr. Abhishek Basu, Marketing head at Shaman Wheels for experiencing the off-road capabilities of Mercedes-Benz GLC.This was my first ever off-road experience. Always found my friends too facilitated by offroad,

This was my first ever off-road experience. Always found my friends too facilitated by offroad, and saw some of them crazy obsessed with having mud covered cars. To my surprise,Shaman Wheels along with off-road Junkies had transformed the traditional exhibition ground at BKC to an amusement park looking track with 10 obstacles to get the feel of the GLS, GLC, and GLE. There were a couple of GLA’s also available and parked.

It was still sunny and hot at that time, while rain soaked Mumbai nowadays. Which also reminds me of the last obstacle track that was about passing through a muddy land and how a water tanker had to be used to create the effect.

I had to wait in the que to try out the GLC and that gives the number of attendees who were all excited to try out the mighty GLC on an off-road track along with notable celebrities who were also invited list and had a balling time at the ground.

Without further do I will now ship to my experience at the event, I started off trying the GLC along with a guy from off-road junkies. A very chill dude who seemed know the track well and has tried out much more adrenaline exhilarating off-road adventure is a part.

We started off with the first obstacle which felts like Mumbai road potholes after the rainy season ends. I am sure this was to tell Mumbaikars how their car should drive / feel after the rainy season. This one really didn’t give much of a feel for me and I wasn’t too sure why this one was made. Coming next was an uphill/ downhill obstacle. The uphill didn’t much of a block, however, the idea was to give an example of DSR feature that lets your car crawl down the hill at 4 km/h with ease. Pretty much the point of realisation that I am present at an off-road activity.

Here the list of adventures we went.

My personal favourite one was the obstacle where the car is @ 45-degree angle; scary real scary. The brave models  decided to get off the can and go for an Instagram. While my friend Dhruv seated at back sit completely being pulled by gravity wanted to just get over with the feel of being held by a seat belt. This was the moment of realisation the amount of fun of an off-road adventure can be the limits a GLC can tolerate.

I always thought of the Mercedes-Benz as delicate dating; Perception went from delicate darlings made to be protected to sturdy, heavy, high or technology monsters with luxury waiting to go places unexplored.

My favourite part of taking GLC off road is the season’s effect. It’s not a mini SUV neither a giant one; and the one I had was a petrol engine very reactive, very fast and feels kingly like the new C-Class interior.

Bravo to Shaman  guys for dedicating expensive toys for charging perception of people like me who have never been exposed to off road adventures.
