PulpWork Press (PWP) is an independent publisher of modern pulp novels and anthologies that was founded in 2007 following the dissolution of Frontier Press and Electronic Tales. Its notable authors include Joel Jenkins, Derrick Ferguson, Josh Reynolds, Russ Anderson, and Rob Mancebo.
PulpWork Press is a recognized part of the New Pulp Movement, though its influences and the writing style of its authors may also cross over into the Pulp Rev and Superversive movements.
The original pulp era of the 1930's and 1940's is sometimes criticized for reflecting the racial prejudices of its times. PWP is important to the New Pulp movement because of the diverse heroes it presents in traditionally white roles. Notable characters include Derrick Ferguson's Dillon, who is sometimes described as a black James Bond, and Joel Jenkins' Native American gunfighter, Lone Crow, who appears in his Weird Western series.
PulpWork Press is also known for its yearly Holiday themed collections, which features various modern pulp authors.
Strange Punctuation: A number of books from PulpWork Press utilize the rare punctuation of the interrobang (a combined exclamation and question mark) which indicates both an interrogative and an exclamation, and the reversed question mark which indicates sarcasm.
