PatentCafe.com, Inc. is a privately held, California-based company specializing in patent search technology, software application development, and information publishing for the Intellectual Property (IP) community.
The original website was launched in 1995 as a links directory under GibbsGroup . By 2000, prior to its name change to PatentCafe, the Company's web properties grew to the top spot as the most visited and linked-to intellectual property portal.
In 2002, the Company pioneered web-based patent research, patent portfolio and patent analysis software applications that incorporate a large scale patent data center and Latent Semantic Analysis search technology. Using artificial intelligence rather than traditional “keyword searching”, PatentCafe’s search technology data mines its international patent database for information that support the analytical components if its software applications.
PatentCafe’s Web properties, linked from nearly 70,000 web pages worldwide, servicing the global intellectual property community include:
• PatentCafe.com – an international patent database and Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) search engine.
• IPFrontline.com – a leading daily, web-based intellectual property and technology magazine.
PatentCafe Patent Search, IP Management, Patent Informatics
PatentCafe’s patent research and intellectual property management solutions are built around an advanced linguistics database. The Company’s Latent semantic analysis database currently understands more than 2.5 million distinct concepts related to inventions as described in the more than 25 million patent records in the data center.
Although LSA has been deployed in smaller data collections, PatentCafe was the first patent search engine provider to overcome the technical barriers related to very large scale LSA data retrieval. It's patent search engine returns relevancy ranked search results from nearly 200 million pages of patent data - in seconds.
PatentCafe is currently the industry’s only commercially available international patent database and Latent Semantic Analysis patent search engine.
When compared to legacy Boolean keyword patent search engines, such as the web-based tools available at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, searchers using PatentCafe can enter a full text search query thousands of words long – for instance, the complete text of a patent application.
Following deployment of its LSA search engine, PatentCafe developed enterprise-class, web-based software applications that integrate the searchable patent data. It's solutions are used for strategic patent planning, licensing, patent infringement analysis, patentability or prior art searching, technology landscape analysis, patent evaluation, and patent competitive intelligence.
The Company has sales offices serving South Korea, India, Israel, and the United Kingdom.
