"Seventeen Candles" is the eighth episode of the CW television series, Gossip Girl.. It aired on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 on CTV and Wednesday, November 14, 2007 on the CW.
Plot
The episode starts with Blair in a Catholic church, confessing to a priest that she has lost her virginity to Chuck Bass. Blair is disgusted by her actions and devastated by the current state of her relationship with Nate. While exiting the church she again runs into Chuck Bass, who has not forgotten their indiscretion as she had hoped, but vividly remembers and is eager to hang out with her. Blair rebuffs him, stating that she does not wish to speak of the other night ever again and that she and Nate will get back together. Chuck drives off angrily.
Jenny brings her mom home as a surprise visit, but Rufus is not ready to forgive and forget. Nate's parents pressure him to give Blair a ring for her birthday in order to salvage Mr. Archibald's business deal with Blair's mother Eleanor. Chuck shows up at Blair's birthday party much to Blair's dismay. He confesses his love for Blair, and Blair in turn tells him to squash those feelings as she is still hoping for a reconciliation with Nate.
Hoping to ease the tension between Serena and Vanessa, Dan takes Vanessa to Blair's party so the girls can bond together, but this ends up making Serena more uncomfortable. Jenny arrives at Blair's party but is stopped before going in by Nate, who she then hangs out with. After their talk, they hug, and a girl takes a picture of them hugging and sends it to Gossip Girl, who then forwards the picture to everyone, including Blair, who is devastated. However, Jenny's back was facing the camera, so the identity of the girl hugging Nate is unknown to everyone.
Nate reveals to his parents that he and Blair broke up the night before. Still, Mr. and Mrs. Archibald pressure him to make up with Blair in order to save the family. Nate refuses. Nate never shows up at Blair's party, but Chuck is there for her. He presents her with a $35,000 diamond necklace she'd been wanting, and she realizes that he's someone who can love her, unlike Nate, who still loves Serena. Chuck says that he's sorry Nate didn't show up, and Blair forgives him, and they end up hooking up again. Serena sees them, and the episode ends.
