During the 1990s and early 2000s, Butcher worked in publishing, graphic design, and digital media. He later founded media ventures in the Cayman Islands, including BuySell.ky and TraderMedia, which focused on local online classifieds and digital advertising.
Payments and financial technology
Butcher later moved into the payments industry.
He served as Chief Operating Officer and subsequently chief executive officer of CoinPayments, a cryptocurrency payment processor. He has also been associated with Parallel Payments, a payment infrastructure company focused on regulated financial services.
