The Optimen are an underground Australian hip hop group, originating from Brisbane, Queensland.

History

The group was formed by Sammsonite, Datsun (DATS), K-West and DJ Damage (Terntable Jediz) in 2001 and released their first EP/demo, 02 Breath Control, in 2002.

The Optimen's 2005 album, Boomtown received Triple J airplay from the singles "Where the F#ck You At?" and "Give It Up". The music video for "Give it Up" features the group "dealing" music in a post-apocalyptic city of the future, where music is illegal. They are pursued and captured by the police before escaping in a car driven by K-West.

The band set up their own independent record label, Red Tape Entertainment.
